Did you know that the presidents of the other CWA locals are fed up with Carla Katz and they say that Katz was prohibited from sending emails to Jon Corzine and from trying to secretly negotiate behind the back of the bargaining committee? "Carla Katz's legal claims in this case blatantly misrepresent the collective bargaining responsibilities of her local and the national union under CWA's structure, and they are a thinly veiled attempt to justify her effort to circumvent the state worker bargaining committee last winter," said Chris Shelton, vice president of CWA District One.
"The CWA constitution makes the national union the sole bargaining agent for New Jersey state workers, and the national union and the committee agreed that any contact with the governor would be with the full knowledge and consent of the entire committee," Shelton said. "It is intolerable to have one local president out of seven purporting to represent the interests of all 40,000 CWA state workers in unauthorized, secret, sidebar contact with any representative of management, let alone the governor."
