Moving Forward…. The National’s decision to remove Karla Katz should be respected. The allegations against Ms. Katz have been around for months and the National took their time to validate and investigate the claims and even changed prosecutors in order to appease Ms. Katz’ allegations of the first prosecutor’s bias. Katz supporters have handed out leaflets at Labor & Workforce Development where they complain that the National has locked them out of the West Trenton office and took over the bank accounts. Well, isn’t that what a responsible oversight committee is supposed to do amidst allegations of financial impropriety? Ms. Katz has had plenty of opportunity (and money) to defend herself and she has not truly addressed the issues, but has only placed road blocks in the way of an impartial investigation. Rather than continue to smear the names of Antonellis, Kukor and Berg, shouldn’t our union brothers and sisters be grateful to the members who have had the insight to fight against an undemocratic union atmosphere? Now that Katz is gone, our union brothers and sisters need to come to together rather than to pass out leaflets telling us to call the CWA National to protest a decision that was clearly difficult and painful for them to make. Even if Katz is cleared legally in all of this, she has lost so much credibility that she can never lead our union again. We need to start moving forward and take the lessons learned to build a stronger union. Soraya Gardner
